Michelle Knorr

Michelle is an immigration barrister. She specialises in refugee, human rights and deportation work. Prior to training as a lawyer Michelle worked in international development, completing stints at UK based NGOs including ODI, Learning for Life and FARM-Africa.

Michelle is a founding trustee of Nyumba Ya Thanzi. She first travelled to Malawi in 2003. She has returned to Malawi yearly since and in 2006 worked at the Malawi Legal Aid Department, preparing bail applications for people who had spent many years on remand and had no access to a lawyer. She is currently setting up a casework support project for Malawian lawyers in conjunction with the Bar Human Rights Committee.

Michelle has a BA in Political Science from Brown University and an LLM in International Human Rights Law from University of Essex. She was called to the Bar in 2009.
